Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I need a referral from my doctor to start physical therapy?
In many cases, no referral is needed! Most states allow direct access to physical therapy, meaning you can schedule an appointment without seeing a physician first. However, some insurance plans may still require one like Medicaid, make sure to bring a valid prescription within 30days—check with us or your provider for details.
2. What should I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit will include a comprehensive evaluation, where your therapist will assess your movement, strength, flexibility, and any areas of pain or dysfunction. We’ll then discuss your goals and create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
3. What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that allow easy movement. Athletic wear is perfect—something that gives access to the area being treated (e.g., shorts for knee issues, tank tops for shoulder treatments).
4. How long is each session?
Treatment sessions typically last 45 to 60 minutes, depending on your treatment plan and individual needs. Initial Evaluation typically last for 60 to 90 minutes.
5. How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies from person to person. Some people need just a few visits for minor issues, while others may require ongoing therapy over several weeks for post-surgical recovery or chronic conditions.
